Officers Make Arrest, Find Loaded Firearm Close To A City Park

Spring Hill, TN – On October 24th officers received a call from a family member concerning a missing adult female who was somewhere with her boyfriend (later identified as Colin Harless, 23 y/o, address in Columbia, TN) in Spring Hill. Officers learned that an active Order of Protection prohibited the two from being together. Officers determined that the pair were last seen along the wood line beside the baseball fields, close to Evan’s Park. Officers later located the female who was walking alone in the area. She was questioned and released. Officers confirmed information that Harless had a .45 caliber handgun in his possession. Based on this information, officers decided to evacuate the area, which included the baseball fields. A drone was deployed in an attempt to locate Harless but he was not immediately located.

Early this morning, officers learned that Harless may still be in the area of Evan’s Park. Officers saturated the area and immediately saw Harless walking close to Maury Hill St. and Beechcroft Rd. Harless was taken into custody without any incident. Harless did not have a handgun on him. Harless did admit that he had a handgun on him at one point but left it with the rest of his property in a wooded area close to the park. Officers told Harless that they needed to find the gun so that a child would not get ahold of it. Harless directed officers to where his backpack was. The backpack was located close to the wood line next to Evans Park. Officers found the loaded gun in the backpack and secured it.

Harless was transported to the Maury County Jail and charged with violation of order of protection.

(Updated) SHPD Officers Respond To A Disturbance At Target

Updated October 30th – While at the scene of the incident, detectives contacted the 22nd District Attorney General’s Office (DAGO) and have been in constant contact with the DAGO to ensure that all evidence needed for their prosecutorial review was collected. Detectives interviewed both females who were involved in the altercation that led to a single round from a handgun being fired. There were no injuries due to this round being fired. Detectives watched Target store surveillance video and cell phone video that captured part of the incident. Detectives also interviewed all known witnesses. Due to a self-defense claim from the woman who fired the handgun, no arrest was made at the scene. Tennessee Code Annotated 39-11-611 (self-defense) explains when a person can use force to defend themselves.

On October 24th detectives met at the DAGO to provide all the evidence collected at this point in the investigation for a preliminary review. After this review of evidence, the DAGO felt that the female who did not fire the handgun had committed the offense of misdemeanor assault during the physical altercation with the other female. On October 29th, detectives issued a misdemeanor citation in lieu of custody to the 38-year-old woman with an address in Spring Hill. 

The elected District Attorney General is reviewing the self-defense claim. Since the investigation is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time.

The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence. A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted in a court of law.

Spring Hill, TN – On October 23rd at 7:10 pm SHPD officers responded to a disturbance at Target (1033 Crossings Blvd) to a reported argument inside the store between two women. The investigation into the incident revealed that two women were shopping in the back section of Target when they got into an argument for reasons that are still under investigation. The verbal argument turned into a physical fight between the two women. For reasons that are still under investigation, one woman fired one round from a handgun in the direction of the other woman. The round did not hit any person. The suspect female was seen on video leaving the store and getting into a car with the person that she came into the store with. That car then left the area. The two women did not know each other.

Detectives are speaking to witnesses and have taken a statement from the woman who was shot at. The shooter was identified as a 24-year-old woman with an address on her driver’s license in Columbia, TN. The suspect is cooperating and providing a statement to detectives. The investigation is ongoing. More information will be released at the appropriate time.

Incident At Kroger On October 7th

Spring Hill, TN – On October 7th at 5:20 pm officers were dispatched to Kroger (4900 Port Royal Rd.) to a reported carjacking attempt. When officers arrived, they located several people inside of Kroger who were traveling in a car together from Columbia to Nashville. The occupants told officers that they were taking Knykholas Lane (whom they were acquainted with) to Nashville when the vehicle started having mechanical issues so they pulled into O’Reilly’s Auto Parts next to Old Port Royal Rd. Lane insisted he be taken to Nashville regardless of the car’s condition. The car was later driven to the Kroger parking lot where Lane threatened to kill all occupants unless he was taken to Nashville. The occupants exited the vehicle and went inside of Kroger.

Officers located Lane sitting in the car and he was arrested without incident. Officers did find a handgun inside the vehicle. Lane was charged with felon in possession of a handgun, multiple counts of aggravated assault, and active warrants out of Nashville.

Arrest Made Due To An Incident That Occurred In A Home In The Benevento East Subdivision

Spring Hill, TN—On August 18th, at 7:30 p.m., officers received a call about a disorder at a home on Via Fransecso Way in the Benevento East neighborhood. The investigation revealed that there was an argument between an adult male and female inside the house, which escalated when the male discharged a handgun allegedly near the female. The female was able to flee the home and dial 911. Officers set up a perimeter around the house and called the male to get him to exit. After a brief standoff, the male did exit the home and was taken into custody without any incident. No one inside the home was injured. The male was charged with attempted criminal homicide and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Sobriety Checkpoint On Main St. (U.S. Hwy. 31) On August 30th

Spring Hill, TN—On Friday, August 30th, the Spring Hill Police Department will host a sobriety checkpoint in conjunction with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Main St. in the area of Crossings Blvd. Advance notice is required per Tennesssee case law.

During the 2022 Labor Day holiday, 490 vehicle crash fatalities were reported nationwide. Of the 490 deaths, 39% involved a drunk driver. Among drivers between the ages of 18 and 34 who were killed in crashes over the Labor Day holiday in 2022, 47% of those drivers were drunk, with a blood alcohol content of .08 (per se legal limit) or higher. Please choose a designated driver or a rideshare this Labor Day weekend. So far, in 2024, SHPD officers have arrested 91 drivers for suspected DUI.

(UPDATED) Shots Fired In Wades Grove Subdivision

Update (August 12th): Detectives have obtained video from a home in Wades Grove where gunshots are audible around the same time a white sedan passes in front of a camera view. A second sedan also leaves the area a short time after the gunshots are heard. A second video shows a person walking between two houses in the subdivision but turning quickly and running toward the street. Spring Hill, TN – On August 7th at 10 PM, officers were dispatched to the Wades Grove subdivision off Buckner Lane to the area of Lequire Lane and Keene Circle to a call of someone hearing multiple gunshots. Officers arrived on the scene and located several empty handgun shell casings on the street in the 2000 block of Keene Circle. Officers spoke to several people in the area to determine if the gunfire hit anyone or structure. No damage or persons injured were located at the time of the report. (Arrest) Vehicle Involved In Lewis County Pursuit May Frequent Spring Hill/Columbia Area

Update (August 6th) – On Monday, August 5th, at 11 PM, an SHPD officer was on Port Royal Rd. close to Saturn Pkwy. when he observed a Mercedes C-43 make a turn in front of him from the Saturn Pkwy. exit ramp. When the officer turned to get behind the vehicle to verify the license plate, the car increased its speed and headed north on Port Royal Rd. The officer pursued the car to Duplex Rd. but terminated the pursuit when the vehicle headed into Wyngate Estates due to excessive speeds. The vehicle was later spotted by Maury County Sheriff’s Deputies and the vehicle fled from deputies as well. The vehicle traveled into Columbia, where it stopped, and the driver fled on foot. After a search, the driver was located and taken into custody. The driver was identified as Bradley Lindsey, 25, with an address in Columbia, TN.

Spring Hill, TN – The Hohenwald Police Department and Lewis County Sheriff’s Office are requesting the public’s help in locating a vehicle involved in a pursuit on August 1st in Lewis County where the car swerved into an oncoming lane occupied by a police vehicle, causing the police vehicle to make an evasive turn to avoid being hit. The image above is how the vehicle looks today (August 5th). The car was blue but has since been painted black. The vehicle has a license plate of Alabama KSA002. The car is a Mercedes C-43 four-door sedan that has a small American flag on the driver’s side of the back window. The driver of the vehicle is a white male. The car has been seen on camera in the Spring Hill/Columbia in the last several days. Please immediately contact your local law enforcement agency if you see this vehicle. Push Mower And Weed Eater Allegedly Stolen From Lowe’s On July 9th

Spring Hill, TN – Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person pictured above who is a person of interest in the alleged shoplifting at Lowe’s that happened on July 9th. This individual exited the store with a Craftsman lawnmower and weed eater without paying for the items. The person left in a black Chevrolet Impala. Walmart Shoplifting Investigation

Subjects are not this blurry in real life

Spring Hill, TN – Detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying persons of interest in shoplifting from Walmart that occurred on July 11th. The female in the white shirt/dark-colored pants allegedly took $1800 worth of body care products without paying for them. She arrived and left with the person wearing a green hoodie and blue jeans.
