Spring Hill, TN – We have taken several reports from people concerning a nationwide scam involving people applying for a job posting online and “getting hired on the spot.” The scammer then sends the person a check (the check is counterfeit) with instructions to keep part of the money for “your services” and then send the rest to someone else. It can take some time for the bank to discover this, but once they do, the bank will want you to repay the full amount. A legitimate employer will never ask you to do this.
